Afterwards

Well, the big day is over, and everything went smoothly - the entertainment was really good, the flowers looked and smelt amazing, the food was delicious, and our guests seemed to really enjoy themselves...

We will upload photos and some sort of account soon....

In the mean time I'd just like to thank everyone who has given us support over the past few hectic months and thanks to those of you who've sent us presents.

Last Few Weeks Before the Big Day

With only a few weeks to go before the big day we have been manically busy organising and preparing everything. There is a neverending list of things to do but we hope that everything will be ok on the day.

Because the tradition here is to invite pretty much everyone you know, we are expecting 300 - 400 people to attend, and that's a lot of chairs, canopies and food to order. After a night of writing names and sealing envelopes, with a power cut and a bottle of wine to slow things down, Javanese invitations are ready to be given out (English ones were sent out over the summer). Our dhalang (wayang puppeteer), masked dancer and a whole orchestra of gamelan musicians have been booked, speeches are (we hope) being written, and we have two MCs (Javanese and English language) ready. We've also booked a great video and photography team so we can share our celebration with those of you who can't make it halfway round the world.

The next couple of weeks will probably be the busiest, as we finish sorting everything out and tidy up any loose ends. Then the first of our international guests will arrive, and it'll be all go from there on in.
